From old school to new school: How superheros costumes have changed
Over time, the movie industry has grown in leaps and bounds and so has the advancement in costumes.

POLOKWANE – Over the years, superhero costumes have gone through face-lifts to make them more current and admirable. The silver screen has come a long way from the days when special effects were something dreams were made of. Over time, the movie industry has grown in leaps and bounds and so has the advancement in costumes. Below are a few superhero costumes that have gone through drastic changes over the decades.
1. Thor
Making his debut in 1988, Thor has kept his signature hammer, called Mjölnir. Much of the rest of the costume has changed with Thor even losing the ridiculous (but necessary) helmet.

2. Spider-man
He was first introduced in 1962 and over time the actors who played this role have changed. The costume has gone from a form fitting costume to looking like a second layer of skin. Not sure if you have noticed but spider-man is usually lanky fit rather than bulky fit, which explains his agility.

3. Catwoman
Meowing into the scene in 1966, Catwoman has been the object of many people’s desire and had the more conservative audience thinking that the world is coming to an end. From the leather outfits and cat ears, through the years very little has changed apart from the leather costumes getting more risque.

4. Batman
First adapted from the Batman TV series into a movie in 1966, this has over the years gone over a massive transformation. Ever the mysterious figure lurking in the darkness, over the years, Batman has gone from being that hero with a dad body to a super chiseled machine monster of a man. He has also gone even more on to the dark side with a complete overhaul of his outfit, right down to the colour.

5. Wonderwoman
From back in 1975, She has gone from sparkly feminine bright colours to more darker shades and even more kickass attitude. Although the costume is more or less similar, the decided to switch up the colours putting the blue at the top and red on the bottom. She still looks killer, definitely not one to mess with.

6. Hulk
The Hulk went went from looking like a Halloween costume gone wrong to the more believable character that is loved by many. The best move they could have made is making Hulk larger than life and changing the awful pants.

7. Superman
This super hero has gone from wearing undies over his tights to a chiseled body in a one piece suite that somehow still looks manly. The change from the bright colours has also done wonders for this powerhouse.
