DJ BC is inspired by the late’s, the greats and the legends

Being exposed to a lot of hip hop music and watching legendary hip hop artists on TV like Nas, Kooi G Rap, Proverb, Prokid and HHP, made DJ Katlego BC Digashu from Polokwane develop a love for music and that's when he officially began writing his own songs in 2007.

POLOKWANE – While busy with his music, he went to study IT at MSC Business College and graduated in 2009, agriculture at Multipurpose Center and graduated in 2011, then studied health and safety at NOSA, graduating in 2014.

Katlego has worked on two mixtapes titled Unpaid Hustle vol.1 and vol.2, and also on an EP titled Risen from Ashes Phoenix EP.

He released three singles named I Got Your Back, One Time and Million Miles which can be downloaded on Itunes.

In public, he has performed at a lot of open mic sessions in Polokwane at the Library Gardens Auditorium, Kasi Expression in Lebowakgomo, Jembe at Meropa, Westenburg Park and many other gig spots.

“I have featured talented vernacular rappers from Ga-Matlala Septic and Bavvy. I’m currently self employed so I write all the time. I’m also a good listener, so I’d take down notes when hanging out with my peers and later use them in my songs as either song titles or skits. I haven’t really recorded with a lot of artists, I’m planning to record with a lot of artists on my album that I’m currently working on titled The Harvest, which will be released soon,” he added.

As a performer he enjoys being on stage with fellow artists.

“I shared the stage with artists such as Maxwell Spyke, Sykotic, Spacemunna, Sieps and many others, I don’t find it challenging performing with other artists, I look at it as a way of growing and learning from one another as artists,” he added.

He further explains that being an artist in Polokwane is challenging as there aren’t enough shows for artists to perform at and artists enjoy limited support.
