Beat the frizz with these humidity combating tips

Having great or good-hair-day on humid days does not have to be a dream, all it takes is to control the frizz in every way possible or revive your hair.

POLOKWANE – Keeping your hair at bay, for some women, can be very stressful at times, especially in humid conditions. Having perfect hair when you leave the house only to land up with a frizz ball the minute you walk outside can be very frustrating and if you’ve been in that situation, you’re probably wondering if there’s any hope of escaping your usual hair troubles/challenges and we’ve got the solution for you.

Making sure that you always moisturise your hair or apply hair-food after drying it and making sure that the air is not too hot on your hair will help combat frizz. Adjusting your hairstyle and trimming your hair regularly will also help you gain humidity proof hair.

Local hair stylist, Maite Mashapa, says too much heat on the hair has a tendency of drying it out, which also causes breakage. “This makes it very easy for the hair to fall out and get damaged by the sun, and most likely get affected by humidity as well,” Maite said.

If your hair is usually dried out by heat, water vapour in the air will be attracted to it much faster, so naturally, you may want to pursue heat-alternatives during the warmer months or hot seasons. If that’s not an option for you, then products that protect against heat styling damage and that are silicone-free are recommended. Other tips to avoid humidity from affecting your hair is to use a hydrating hair shampoo and conditioner, dry your hair using a round brush, spray a heat-protection-product serum to detangle, define, and protect your hair from heat damage.
