Hensy Black is a fashionista in his own right

Sipho Napo, a house vocalist also known as Hensy Black, can often be seen in stylish suits and semi-formal outfits that are eye-catching.

POLOKWANE – Napo explains that when he selects his outfits, he looks for clothes that are of good quality and shape his body perfectly. He thinks it’s very important to know your body first, then you can choose clothes accordingly.

“I like colours that also compliment my complexion like red, maroon, white, black and yellow,” he explained.

He says that he doesn’t have somebody who dresses him, or a designer who exclusively makes his clothes, he is always on the look-out for fashion items everywhere he goes. He is inspired by everyday clothes which he adds can be made to look extraordinary, if put together correctly. “I try to make sure that my clothing choices don’t just look good, they are also functional. When I am on stage, I still need to feel comfortable enough to dance without worrying about my clothes,” he said emphasising the point of making sure that a good look goes hand-in-hand with still being able to go about your day.

Hensy goes for a casual look that can be rocked during the day.

For Hensy Black, creating his own style was not difficult because it’s something that is innate, it just so happens to work better because he is an artist. The amount of love he receives is partly because of the way he dresses and the music he puts out there for his fans. “It’s humbling and overwhelming when people buy into your dreams, and when they strive to recreate your look, after seeing you on stage. I try to keep my style grounded and make it something that any person can pull off, but I also refuse to be average,” he said. He hopes to one day be recognised as one of South Africa’s influential fashionistas, because he still has more up his fashion sleeves.
