Treat your four-legged-friend with Chilli ‘O’ Jam

Chilli "O" Jam founder Deon de Jager currently makes cheese flavoured doggie puffs and beef flavoured doggie biscuits.

POLOKWANE – Chilli “O” Jam is the treat your dog needs. Growing up and loving dogs taught him how dogs, just like humans, enjoy and love treats. He realised how pets are not given much attention with regard to their need for treats.

He said we focus mainly on their daily intake of food and water. Deon is a food processor, as it saves money and food, and owns three dogs. He currently makes cheese flavoured doggie puffs and beef flavoured doggie biscuits.

“I grew up loving and having dogs, and as I got older I realised how they are not cheap to maintain. They need food, clothes and grooming just like humans. I wanted to create something nice for them and played around in the kitchen with some ingredients. They loved and enjoyed the bits of food I made them, so I decided to make and sell them to other dog owners. This helps to get them treated, and also provides an extra income for myself,” he explained.

He gave BONUS readers, as well as dog breeders advice and tips on which types of treats to offer their dogs and these include:

• Giving a dog a spoonful of unsalted peanut butter can be a healthy treat

• Vegetables

• Pieces of salmon

• Yogurt

• Cooked chicken, salted and a little spiced

However Deon says it is important for all dog lovers and breeders to ensure their best friend is not allergic to any of the food they would like to give him or her. The best way to find this out is to ask a vet.
