Thobela Fm to celebrate their 59th birthday in Phalaborwa

In celebration of their 59th birthday, the station has planned a series of activities where the community of Phalaborwa can mingle with and meet their favorite radio personalities and talk show hosts.

LIMPOPO – Thobela FM invites listeners and fans to come and celebrate their 59 years of being ‘a voice for the voiceless’.

In celebration of their 59th birthday, the station has planned a series of activities where the community of Phalaborwa can mingle with and meet their favorite radio personalities and talk show hosts. Other activities will include the Battle of the djs, ‘Keja ka segageshu’ competition and many more for the community.

The birthday festival is set to take place this coming weekend from Friday, 31 May until late hours of Sunday, 2 June. The station will also be visiting the Namakgale Crossing Mall, Foskor Community Hall, and Phalaborwa Taxi Rank in Phalaborwa.

During the past years, Thobela FM has touched and changed the lives of many people in South Africa through its various community initiatives and competitions such as the giving away of a car during the annual gospel festival.

The only ‘hub of information and entertainment’ has also designed their programming through careful consideration of its listener’s wants and needs. It covers a broad spectrum of content from entertainment, up to the minute news and educational topics.

The acting station manager, Florina Sebola says they have taken over the airwaves since 1960 and when the citizens think about radio, they think about only Thobela FM.

Sebola further said they are trend setters and an inspiration to the people. “Over the past seven years we were blessed. We had fun, we experienced happy moments, we cried, we celebrated, we entertained, we informed, we educated and we changed lives”.

On the other side of the coin, the lunch time radios show ‘Mosegare wa Sekgalela’ by Sebasa Mogale and youth radio show ‘Moswa le Bokamoso’ by Koketso Mudau will broadcast live from Phalaborwa on Friday.

Moriti Rasefate, Thobela FM’s Marketing Manager said: “Our listeners and music lovers in Phalaborwa can look forward to a fun filled birthday celebration, which will be boasting top notch entertainment.”
