Tips for dad’s perfect crown
Men should take pride in their appearance, and it all starts with perfect hair.
POLOKWANE – Healthy hair is something that men too pride themselves on. Whether it be long, short, afro or dreadlocks, healthy hair is like a crown and completes the whole look of a man.
Review spoke to Ngwako Matlou who explained that being male does not give men a pass to neglect themselves and their hair.
“Contrary to popular belief, men should take pride in their appearance and a general feeling of confidence starts with the small efforts you make,” he said.
In winter, hair has to deal with a lot of weathering and it is important to give it extra care. Matlou explained that this also applies to the beard. “To ensure that your beard looks healthy, coconut oil can do the trick. Just pour a little into your hand and gently massage it onto your beard so that it absorbs into the skin. This stimulates hair growth and softens the hair follicles,” he said.
Matlou shared a castor oil mixture that stimulates hair growth. This is an affordable way to treat hair without the extra cost attached to it.
“All you have to do is mix two tablespoons of castor oil with one tablespoon of coconut oil. Warm up this mixture for a few seconds (you can use a microwave so that you can test it on your finger to ensure it doesn’t burn),” he explained. Then, massage this mixture into your head and scalp. Cover the hair with a shower cap and wrap a warm towel over it. Leave for 30 to 45 minutes then wash it off with shampoo.
