Papic to help save Black Leopards’ ‘sinking ship’

Black Leopards is currently struggling in the DStv Premiership and Kostadin Papic is returning to the club to help them recapture their form.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo DStv Premier League team, Black Leopards have appointed former coach of Hearts of Oak of Ghana, Kostadin Papic as technical manager.

He recently parted ways with Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak where he was in charge since December 2020.

He is expected to help Leopards’ sinking ship, who is perched in the last spot of the league log.

The Serbian joined the club on a three-year contract.

Papic returns to the Leopards he left seven years ago, when he managed to qualify to play in the National First Division promotional play-off when he was in charge during the 2013/14 season.

Leopards FC General Manager, Tshifhiwa Thidiela says they want to build a strong team.

Papic will work with head coach Lehlonolo Seema who will be assisted by Morgan Shivambo and Mongezi Bobe.

Lidoda Duvha made the announcement during a virtual media briefing on Thursday.

“We want to build a strong team. Papic’s responsibilities will mainly be to be in charge of coaching and all the technical issues from the first team going down to the development.

“We are not bringing him to try and move anyone to new positions.

I know generally in football when somebody else is brought in as technical manager or director, it becomes like a plan to try and move someone out.”

Papic says he has been following South African football since he has been working in South Africa many years.

“I know the league very well, so I know all the best teams in the DStv Premier League and I have also started to study the players, coaches and how they play and I’m still studying the league.”

His mission is to turn Leopards’ losing streak around.

“I’m confident that we are going to turn the fortunes of the club around because we have a good squad and a great technical team.
