Help your child make a DIY confetti bookmark

Your child will love making a confetti bookmark. All you need are a few craft supplies and some imagination.

It’s Saturday and that means trying to think of innovative ways to keep your kids busy. A confetti bookmark is easy to make, and perfect for children who enjoy arts and crafts.

What you need

  • A plastic page protector
  • Needle and thread, or sewing machine
  • Coloured cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Silver sequence
  • Buttons or beads
  • Glitter
  • A funnel (optional)
  • Wool
  • Large needle
  • Punch

Here’s how to make it

  1. Sew a rectangle onto the plastic page protector, leaving the top open. Cut it out.
  2. Make your confetti by cutting coloured cardboard into tiny pieces.
  3. Once you have all your confetti cut out, add some silver sequins, or other bits and bobs you have around the house, like small buttons or beads.
  4. Use a funnel and insert the confetti into the plastic pocket.
  5. Use a sewing machine to close the opening of the plastic pocket.
  6. Grabe a hole punch and yarn to make the bookmark tassel.

Good to know: This craft requires close adult supervision as it involves small items that could be potentially harmful to your child if swallowed.
