Taking a break from their early Christmas shopping, visitors to Mall of the North (MoN) on Friday evening gathered for the centre’s annual Carols by Candlelight.
The programme varied from nostalgia to excitement and the attendees sang along to Christmas tunes such as ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Away in a Manger’. MoN Marketing Manager Mari Delport emphasised that the purpose of the gathering was to get shoppers into the festive spirit and allow them to donate toys that will benefit less privileged children. The event also afforded local singers and ballet dancers an opportunity to display talent.
Mariza Pelser, manager of Heart Drive said the organisation collects toys and other goods for donation to persons in need. She appealed to the audience to support the organisation for them to assist underprivileged residents, especially during the Festive Season.
Entertainment was provided by talented locals including Frederick Fourie, Mischa Bekker, the Capricorn Chorus, Taberna Dei worship team and ballet dancers from Vida Danca.
