Following two recent swimming events that had to be cancelled at the city swimming pool in Burger Street, the facility is now in an excellent condition and there is currently no reason why the South African Level 2 Championships scheduled for 3 to 5 April will not be hosted in the city.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo confirmed that two meetings between officials of the municipality and the local organisers of the event took place last week and that communication channels have been strengthened. “The responsible strategic business unit of the municipality will now directly communicate with the swimmers and vice versa to ensure that all challenges be addressed promptly,” Mothapo said.

Head coach of Eagar Aquatics, Douggie Eager said that he was pleased with the condition of the swimming pool. “The swimmers say that the water smells and tastes very well and that they are delighted,” Eagar said and added that he is confident that the coming championships will be a great success.
