Noorderland High School’s Top 10 learners from grade 8 to 12 for the second term were announced during a special assembly also attended by guest learners and their deputy principal from Dikgale-based Lekota Senior Secondary School on Monday.
Prior to announcing the Top 10 learners, Noorderland principal Thabo Ratema explained that the guest learners accompanied by their deputy principal Johannes Maluleke would spend the week attending the commercial subject classes with the learners of Noorderland in order to glean more knowledge on learning skills and take this knowledge back to Dikgale to share with their fellow learners.
Noorderland learners welcomed the Lekota learners, clapping and cheering.
There is currently much competition between the top three Grade 12 learners Katlego Dikgale, Glen Matlala and Kagiso Koenaite as all three of them emerged in top spot with a percentage of 85,4%. The three learners reaffirmed their commitment to their studies and each of them said they are determined to finish the year in top spot. They also expressed their gratitude towards the school for the extra classes as well as the Easter- and Winter holiday camps.
Ratema praised the Top 10 learners for their tenacity. “They are a shining example to the rest of the school of what can be done with hard work and single mindedness,” he concluded.
