Men save kitten from car’s engine
Woman hears kitten screaming but does not know where it comes from.
SECUNDA – A kitten was saved from a Renault’s engine on Wednesday, 21 February by staff of Supa Quick.
Ms Marietta Olivier left for work and heard it meowing in her car.
She stopped to look where it came from, but could not find anything.
She called her husband, Mr Albert Olivier, who met her on her way to work to see what the problem was.
“I could also hear the kitten meowing and we looked in the boot, the engine and everywhere, but could not find her,” said Mr Olivier.
“I was not sure what to do and decided to drive to Supa Quick so they could remove the tyres to see if we could find the kitten.”
However, when Mr Olivier arrived at Supa Quick, staff told him if they remove the tyres the kitten would get hurt.
They raised the vehicle and opened the bonnet where they found the kitten.
“They removed the plates at the bottom of the engine to free the kitten.
“She nearly ran away, but one of the staff members caught her and said he wanted to keep her.”
Mr Simon Skhosana took the kitten home.
Mr Olivier suspected the kitten was in his garage the whole night, because the alarm went off three times during the night.
“I suspect she sought shelter underneath the car when I entered the garage at 3am to see why the alarm was going off and she probably jumped into the engine.
“Obviously when the car’s engine began to get warmer, the kitten got uncomfortable and began to meow.”
