People with disabilities nominate committee

People with disabilities face many challenges.

SECUNDA – People with disabilities are entitled to equal rights.

That was what Mr Doctor Mayisele, official for the disabled in the Gert Sibande District Municipality, said at a summit at Kinross Lapa on Friday, 15 November.

“People with disabilities face many challenges.

“They continuously battle exclusion and restriction to full participation in society and are facing discrimination, abuse and poverty.

“It is time we stand up and fight this, because if we do not, who will fight for us?

“The new committee will comprise responsible people who will stand up for what is right.

Mr Mayisela strongly rebuked the division among people with disabilities.

“Let us stop complaining and gossip about each other, but let us come up with solutions.

“If we discriminate against each other, how are we going to win this battle?

Mr Sipho Masina, transversal manager of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, conducted the committee nomination session.

Mr Boyzee Mkhwanazi is the chairman, Mr Kabelo Lengole is the deputy chairman, Ms Nomzamo Maseko is the secretary, Ms Zodwa Jele is her deputy and Mr Nkosingiphile Dludlu is the treasurer.

This committee works according to the international theme for people with disabilities, namely Break Barriers and Open Doors for an Inclusive Society for All.
