eMbalenhle women officers receive award
Station commander praises police officials and public service members for going beyond the call of duty.
eMBALENHLE – The local Women’s Network members were the winner at the Mpumalanga Police Women’s Network Annual Prestige Awards that was held in Hazyview recently.
They were recognised for their contributed towards the reduction of crime against women and children and poverty as well as for striving to continuously develop and promote a professional cadre of women in the police service.
Col Lizzy Mtungwa, station commander, was full of praise for her dedicated staff of 32 women who included officers, data typists and general workers.
“They have done outstanding work over and above their policing duties to uplift disadvantaged residents.
“It means a lot to me and the station management to have a dedicated team.”
The annual awards were established in 2006, emanating from the Police Women’s Network that is currently an affiliate of the International Association of Women Police.
It honours the valuable contributions made by women police officials and public service members who went beyond the call of duty.
The station has won various awards since 2010.
