Be cautious of two escapees

Eight prisoners escaped from Bethal Prison’s men’s section.

BETHAL – The manhunt for eight awaiting trial prisoners paid off when the police re-arrested six of the fugitives.

Two men, Messrs Luwi Malang (25) who was charged with armed robbery in eMbalenhle, and Andrew Monareng (41) who faces charges of housebreaking and theft were, however still at large at the time of going to press.

The Ridge Times reported about the eight men with these criminal charges in last week’s edition:

* Kleinboy December Sithebe (26) for possession of a firearm in Devon.

* Gcina German Mndaweni (28) for murder and armed robbery in Bethal.

* Caiphus January Mdakane (26) for armed robbery in Kinross.

* Vuyisile Petros Maseko (33) for rape in Leslie.

* Zakhele Jappie Nkambule (28) for armed robbery in Kinross

* Velaphi Jeremia Nkambule (25) for armed robbery in Secunda

The eight prisoners escaped from Bethal Prison’s men’s section.

It is alleged that the escapees broke the wall of the cell and escaped.

“People should not attempt to apprehend them as they are very dangerous,” Const Mapule Tlou, communications officer for the Bethal Police Station, said.
