
eMBALENHLE – The local police arrested four young people aged between 17 and 23 in connection with a robbery at a business on Thursday, 16 January.
About six of them allegedly entered a shop in Extension 21 and one pointed a firearm at the owner.
“According to the information we received, the victim was robbed of money, airtime vouchers and cigarettes valued at more than R2 500,” Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesman, said.
The police began with their preliminary investigation and arrested three suspects at a tavern in Extension 14 the same evening.
The investigation continued the next day and another suspect was arrested at another tavern in Extension 14.
The police were still tracing the remaining two suspects and the firearm at the time of going to press.
The arrested appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 January.
