Suspects appear in court

Two middle-aged men appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court in connection with the possession of stolen property on 4 February.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers caught the suspects with a yellow welding machine, a black broken car battery, an electrical cord and a black sub-hoover speaker container at a scrap-yard.

The patrollers, suspecting that the goods where stolen, contacted the Sakhile Police and the alleged thieves were arrested.

The battery was allegedly broken to access the aluminium inside and sell it.

Mr Eugene Komaan, community liaison officer of Sakhile Police, said at the time of the arrest another man in Sakhile reported a crime confirming that his garage was broken into.

“He identified the welding machine and electrical extension as his property.

“When the suspects were questioned on where they got the stolen goods, they began pointing fingers at each other,” Mr Komaan said.
