SECUNDA – Ster-Kinekor will be hosting the first Girlfriends Getaway (only for girls) for this year on 19 February and invited women to buy tickets to watch a new, beautiful, fantasy love story, Winter’s Tale.
The movie is set in a mythic New York City and is spanning more than a century.
It is a story of miracles, crossed destinies and the age-old battle between good and evil.
Gather your girl friends and head to the Ster-Kinekor cinema in Secunda Mall for a well deserved mid-week break.
Winter’s Tale begins at 7pm on Wednesday and marks the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), who also wrote the screenplay based on the acclaimed 1983 fantasy novel by Mark Helprin.
The film stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt and Eva Marie Saint.
When his immigrant parents are denied admission at Ellis Island, Peter Lake (Colin Farrell) is set adrift in New York Harbour in a model boat.
He is rescued by the baymen of the Bayonne Marsh and sent off to Manhattan when he comes of age.
Peter struggles to support himself and eventually becomes a burglar, making an enemy of a gangster named Pearly Soames (Russell Crowe).
While robbing a house, Peter meets a young woman named Beverly (Jessica Brown Findlay).
The two form a special bond and his love for the free spirited woman leads him to become obsessed with justice.
