Do not missuse emergency numbers

Children need to be educated on the missuse of emergency numbers.

SECUNDA – The police informed the community that the abuse of emergency numbers will not be tolerated.

Capt Mduduzi Gama, Commander of the Call Centre, said: “Prank phone calls to the emergency number 10111 prevent a call of someone who is in real need of police assistance.”

He said that most of the calls they receive, are from children.

“Parents need to educate their children that these numbers are for emergency use only,” Capt Gama said.

Currently only one 10111 line is working and the public are asked to use this line for emergencies only.

The public can also call radio control at 017 624 2000 or 017 624 2022 for the charge office or 017 624 2241/2242/2243.
