Theatre Lions take their plays to schools

“Their talent is amazing, even though we lack resources to develop them more.”

eMBALENHLE – Theatre Lions are preparing to show off their talents at the Grahamstown National Schools Festival in July.

The group consists of four actors, Lindile Msimango, Mandisa Dladla ka Mgeyi, Precious Giyane, Sinegugu Nkosi and two members working behind the scenes, Neli Nkosi and Matlakala Mokoena.

The Theatre Lions recently won a Sancta for the best production and have performed at various government events including performing for the president, Mr Jacob Zuma.

They also invited to perform and facilitate the Mpumalanga Schools Festival.

These girls are trained and groomed by Mr Howard Dladla, founder of eZaseladuma, who has dedicated his life discovering and developing theatre actors and dancers in the area.

Mr Dladla said: “In our area we do not have women directors and that is why I decided to train these young girls, not only to be actors, but to be directors.

“Their talent is amazing, even though we lack resources to develop them more.”

Threatre Lions are intending to take their plays to schools and local theatres to raise funds for their trip.
