Secunda police make arrests during operation
Sucunda Police launch daily operations to fight property crime.
SECUNDA – Ms Kyla Ras, a resident, said if the police continue with the good work they are doing currently, the crime rate will decrease in the area.
Ms Ras was upset recently because of a vehicle that was overloaded and things falling off it onto the N17 between Secunda and Evander.
She contacted the Secunda Police Station and officers arrived on the scene within 10 minutes.
W/O Thulani Gamede, spokesman for the Secunda Police Station, said the police are working hard and it is their top priority to reduce crime in the area.
The police are having challenges regarding property crime in Secunda.
W/O Gamede said it has become their priority to conduct daily operations in the fight against crime.
“We have managed to make many arrests since we begun the operations.
“The Vis-pol and detectives have arrested seven people for suspected stolen properties, nine for theft of copper, two for possession of dagga and one for housebreaking.”
W/O Gamede warned residents to not leave their house unattended and to implement neighbourhood watches during the Easter holidays.
He encouraged residents to report every crime and suspected cars at 017 6422 022.
