Secunda police need your help
The majority of cases reported about contact crimes, is when an employer assaults employees.
SECUNDA – Police have launched an operation to fight unlicensed firearms.
W/O Thulani Gamede, Secunda Police Station spokesman, said: “We ask the public to get involved in this operation.
“Unlicensed firearms are very dangerous as criminals usually use them to commit crime.
“The police alone cannot be successful in making sure all unlicensed firearms are recovered, that is why we want the public’s help.
“Residents should not be afraid to give information, because their identity will be treated as confidential and when the information is true, we are going to apply for a reward for the person who gave us the lead.”
W/O Gamede also said there is a high increase in contact crime and common crime.
He said the majority of cases reported about contact crimes, is when an employer assaults employees.
“This is a big challenge for us, because the victims are still angry when they open a case and then they withdraw the charges the next day.
“We appeal to companies and employees to follow internal procedures to resolve a matter before they take matters to the police.
“This increases crime statistics and wastes many state resources.
“Employers should conduct team building to reduce conflicts and fights in work places.”
He also warned residents to be cautious with their handbags and cell phone because there is a high increase in common crime.
