Man steals R800 from a pensioner at Mall @ eMba.

eMBALENHLE – Members of the Sector 3 Policing Forum were hard at work patrolling at the Mall @ eMba on 1 May.

A man apparently stole R800 from the bag of a pensioner in a shop and they informed a security guard who arrested him and took him to the police station.

Mr Sidney Sehlalo, sector chairman, said another man suspected of being involved in a bank card cloning scam, ran away when he noticed them patrolling the mall.

He said they will continue to patrol the mall at the end of each month.

The forum members work with the police and their sector manager, Const Elizabeth Mabena, in Extension 18, 21, 22, Welas, Chris Hani Section and Roodebank and other crime hot spot areas outside their sector.

Mr Sehlalo said residents can make a difference in their streets and become the eyes and ears of the police by joining the sector forum.

Sector policing focuses on small, manageable sectors of a police station area.

It is a means of implementing community policing and is part of the local Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Mr Joseph Mhlongo, chairman of the CPF, encourages residents to join the sector policing to ensure that their streets and homes are protected at all times.
