They will be serving 20 years for each count of rape.

SECUNDA – Vuyisile Mngenela and Lucky Mphluli will be serving 75 years in prison each after they were recently found guilty in the Secunda Regional Court.

Each received a sentence of 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances, as well three counts of rape, 20 years imprisonment per charge.

The men were accused of raping a 26-year-old woman in eMbalenhle in 2012.

She was on her way home when one of the men demanded she give him her cell phone and money.

They then dragged her to a field where they passed a river and forced the woman to get undressed.

They threatened her with an axe and both raped her three times.

They took her to her home where they robbed her and her mother-in-law of their belongings.

Both men’s sentences will run concurrently in terms of Section 103 of Act 60 of 2000.

They were declared unfit to possess a firearm and will be eligible for parole after 12 years.
