Policeman competes for Mr SA title
“As a little boy I always wanted to become a doctor, but God had bigger and better plans for me.”
BETHAL – One of the Bethal Police Station constables is competing in the Mr South Africa modelling competition.
Const Mogadime Mahlatse Thomas (31) is one of the Top 50 finalists.
His cousin sent him an SMS about the competition on 31 January.
“I was scared because this is the first time that I compete in this kind of competition and my mother motivated me to apply,” he said.
There were 116 candidates before the elimination round for the Top 50.
“The finalists in the Top 50 have some tasks to do until the finals, such as raising funds for the J9-Foundation, doing community work and having conversations with the community through an SMS campaign.
There will also be more elimination rounds until the winner is announced in December.”
Mr Thomas began to work at the police in 2011 and according to him he is coping well with his job and with the competition.
“As a little boy I always wanted to become a doctor, but God had bigger and better plans for me,” he said.
According to Mr Thomas you must embrace your dreams and never lose hope, do not sit around and wait for things to happen and work hard to make your dreams come true.
He said he stands a good chance of going through to the finals because he worries more about others than himself, he wants to lift up others and serve the community with pride and dignity.
One of the questions asked was that if he won the title of Mr SA would all that fame have any affect on him.
He replied that fame is not going to change him because he is proud of who is he is without fame.
The community can help Mr Thomas to go through all the elimination rounds by sending an SMS with MRSA 055 to 47439.
An SMS costs R3.
