Beware of scams

Do not deposit money without doing your homework.

SECUNDA – The local police are concerned about fraud in town.

“It is becoming a big problem,” said Lt Bettina Zondo, spokesman at the Secunda Police Station.

According to her many fraud cases have been reported at the station.

“In one case the complainant applied for a loan at a company on 9 May.

“She was sent the necessary application forms and was later informed that she must deposit an amount of R8 240.

“She did the deposit and was later told that she must also deposit an amount of R10 220.

“She was then told that she had to wait for three months and when there was no more communication, she realised she was scammed.”

The police warned people to watch out for such scams.
