SECUNDA – Police officials from different stations took hands on Wednesday, 18 June and did an operation in Secunda to prevent crime.
They conducted patrols and stop and search operations.
They also handed out pamphlets informing people how to prevent theft of and out of vehicles.
Some of the tips the police gave on the pamphlets were:
* After parking your vehicle make sure that all doors are locked, confirm that by physically pulling the handles of all the doors.
* Never leave your car keys in the ignition, not even for only a few seconds.
* Never leave valuable items such as handbags, laptops, cameras, cell phones etc. on the car seats, rather keep them in the boot.
* Be on the lookout constantly for suspicious looking characters or vehicles and do not hesitate to report them to the police.
* If necessary request the identified car guard at the parking area to look after your vehicle to ensure that it is safe.
* Before leaving the parking area inspect your vehicle properly to ensure that everything is still in order.
