Police believe prayer will help to decrease the rate of crime
Police and local pastors held a prayer meeting on Wednesday, 9 July.
eMZINONI – Police, residents and pastors from various churches gathered to pray at the Raymond Mavuso Hall on Wednesday, 9 July.
The police used this platform to raise awareness about the escalation of crime and how crime can be reduced through a close relation between residents and police.
Const Cynthia Mtsweni, spokesman for the police, said she believes that this prayer will positively impact the area.
“The entire staff was revived and encouraged and we realised that we needed this service.
“We have skills to do the job, but we need God to give us grace and wisdom to excel in what we do.”
Various pastors gave a message of support and stakeholders also took part in the event.
People suffering from an illness and those possessed by demons were prayed for.
Ms Nontuthuzelo Kabini, resident, said: “It is wonderful that residents from all churches can come together to pray and the pastors will surely shake the kingdom of darkness.
“I fast today because I want God to help us overcome crime in our area.
“We also need God to intervene in our homes, because our children are being destroyed by substance abuse and alcohol.
“Nyaope is killing our nation, but God will give us victory.”
