eMbalenhle men appear in court for armed robbery
Mr Ditshego reappeared for armed robbery on July 29, Mr Labhata for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm on 30 July 30 and Mr Khoza for possession of an unlicensed firearm on 1 August.
eMBALENHLE – Messrs Thabiso Ditshego, Sikhanyisile Labhata and Bafana Khoza, all 27 years old, appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 23 July in connection with armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
They allegedly robbed a shop in Extension 18 on Tuesday, 22 July of money.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, spokesman for the local police, said an employee of the shop was going to deposit money when they received information about the robbery.
Residents had already apprehended one of the men when they arrived.
He was in possession of R10 000, but without the firearm.
It was later established that the bag containing about R120 000 was recovered by the Sasol security people and they handed it over to the police.
Mr Labhata led the police to the second suspect who also took part in the robbery and Mr Ditshego was arrested.
He told the police that he gave the firearm to Mr Khoza.
Mr Khoza showed them the firearm and ammunition.
The three will reappear in court on three different dates for bail application.
Mr Ditshego reappeared for armed robbery on July 29, Mr Labhata for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm on 30 July 30 and Mr Khoza for possession of an unlicensed firearm on 1 August.
Capt Nkosi said Mr Ditshego is apparently a former employee of the robbed business.
“We would like to commend residents for the job well done in helping to apprehend the suspects.”
