Thieves rob guards and flee with money
Police urge people with information to contact them regarding a robbery.
SECUNDA – Two security guards from a local security company were robbed on Saturday, 26 July at about 9.30am.
According to Lt Betinna Zondo, spokesman of Secunda Police, the security guards went to Sasol Garage in Secunda to collect money when they noticed two men reading newspapers at the shelves in the shop.
The manager helped the security by handing over the canister containing the money.
“While the security guard was on his way to the vehicle, the two men followed him and pointed a firearm at him,” said Lt Zondo.
“They instructed him to lie on the ground and drop the canister with the money.
“They took the canister as well as the security guard’s firearm and fled the scene in a red BMW 3 Series.”
No arrests have been made yet and the case is being investigated.
