eMBALENHLE – Messrs Nkosinathi Nqakana (30), Kwezi Ndiza (24) and Thanduxolo Msenu (26) appeared in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 19 September in connection with business robbery.
This follows the local police’s action on information received about a business robbery that took place at a shop in Extension 18 on Tuesday, 16 September.
It is alleged that the men went into the shop and pointed a firearm at the owner and forced him to open the burglar proof door.
One fired a shot and the owner was wounded in the left arm.
They stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
Mr Ali Zane Ahmed (27) was admitted to the Evander Hospital for treatment.
Brig Selvy Mohlala, Mpumalanga spokesman, said the police followed all possible leads and worked tirelessly to bring the men responsible to book.
“Their hard work yielded positive results as it led to the arrest of the suspects from their various hideouts on Wednesday, 17 September.”
A loaded 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off was recovered from one of the men.
“It will be sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it has been used in the commission of other crimes.
“An additional charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition will be added,” said Brig Mohlala.
The men were remanded in custody and will reappear in court on 25 September for a bail hearing.
The police also arrested more than 10 people earlier for being in possession of dagga and nyaope.
They also recovered ammunition from a man in the Mandela Section.
