Maud uplifts local soccer league

eMBALENHLE – Ms Maud Mphuthi (32), local businesswoman, recently donated R30 000 to the Local Football Association (LFA).

This league will now be known as the Kwa Schebo Meat Soccer Development League and this donation will support all the divisions of the LFA, namely U/13, U/15 and U/19.

Ms Mphuthi is the owner of a local butchery in Extension 12.

“Soccer is a common sport in our location and it positively influences the youth.

“I thought that by donating towards the sport, will benefit the youth and make a positive impact.

“As a Christian I believe giving is the way of life.

“It is also my way of saying thank you to the people who have made me the person I am today.”

Ms Mphuthi was born and raised in eMbalenhle.

She began studying at eMbalenhle Primary School and completed Grade 12 at the Highveld Park High School in 2000.

She then studied retail management at the Wits University.

The meat business which she co-owns with her husband and sister, began in a little container in August 2008.

“I have learned not to despise humble beginnings.

“When we began, it was not easy at all and the business was very small, but by the grace of God, here we are today.

“Success did not happen overnight and demanded many sleepless nights and late hours.

“At times I had to spend weekends at work and could not spend quality time with my family.”

Ms Mphuthi is the mother of two daughters, Khensani (7) and Khanyisa (4), and she is married to Mr Bhuti Mphuthi.

“Running a business is very hectic, but my husband and the entire family are very supportive.

“My kids are still young, so at times they do not understand when I have to work over weekends.

“They have a very good nanny who looks after them when I am not at home.

“The business industry can be corruptive, but you have to be a loyal and honest person.

“Never cheat your costumers, distributors and staff.”

Ms Mphuthi’s business is also funding a local drop-in-centre and she is planning on funding a crèche.

“We want to establish a well resourced crèche with proper facilities.

“We aim to invest in the early development of a child and to contribute to his education which is the key to success.”
