A woman in the Toristo Flats had a rude awakening on 2 October when two men forced their way into her flat.
The men knocked at the door and when she opened it, they confronted her with a wheel spanner.
They grabbed all the electrical appliances they could and left, only to return, asking the woman for bags to put the goods in.
She looked for bags, but when she wanted to hand it over, they had left.
“The strange thing was that they left the stuff they stole at the front door.
“Someone must have spooked them and they ran away,” Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, spokesman of the Standerton Police, said.
A case of housebreaking has been opened at the Standerton Police Station and police are investigating the case.
