Protesters burn municipal buildings
Angry Sakhile residents took out their frustration on the Social Centre after submitting a memorandum with their list of demands.
Municipal and private property were damaged during a protest organised by the South African Civic Organisation (Sanco) on 8 October.
The angry protesters burnt the Social Centre and municipal office in Sakhile after they submitted a memorandum to the Lekwa Municipality.
The protest comes after the ANC provincial and regional offices failed to respond to their previous memorandums.
Sanco mobilised the community and they marched to the municipal offices and on the way turned over rubbish bins and threw refuse in the streets.
Mr Doctor Mtshali, ANC convener of Lekwa council, accepted the latest memorandum on behalf of the ANC.
