eMBALENHLE – Sorrow and worry were etched on the face of the mother of three whose shack in Extension 25 had burnt down on Sunday, 12 October.
Ms Nosisa Sicoto’s children aged 3, 6 and 7 years old, are now homeless.
All they had were destroyed.
Ms Sicoto told the Echo on Tuesday her children were sleeping and she went to fetch water in the neighbourhood when she saw huge flames coming from her home.
“I do not know what caused the fire, because no candles were lit.
“I screamed for help and neighbours helped to rescue my children.
“The fire was uncontrollable and only God knows how they escaped harm.”
The family are suffering from post-traumatic stress and are in need of financial and moral support.
“We are in serious need of food and shelter.
“There is nowhere to go and nobody who can help.
“One of my relatives gave us shelter, because her family was away, but they returned and we have to move out.”
Ms Zodwa Sibiya, a neighbour and friend, pleaded with good Samaritans to help the Sicoto family with anything they might have.
“Your donations and support are vital to give this family a new life.”
