eMZINONI – Police urged residents to keep their eyes open because thieves are stealing tyres from parked cars.
They said several cases have been opened.
Const Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said criminals usually target cars on sidewalks and cars in unlocked garages.
“People must always be on guard and not leave their cars unattended.
“You must make sure that your garages are properly locked.”
She also asked residents to not buy stolen property because it is a crime.
“The fact that this crime is increasing, tells us that someone is buying the tyres.
“We ask the community to help us make sure that crime is reduced in our area.”
Three foreigner men were arrested recently for tyre theft and tyres were recovered.
