Secunda Spar area without hawkers
Nick and Byron challenge other business owners to do the same.
SECUNDA – Secunda Spar in conjunction with Frontier Security has taken the initiative to clean up the CBD area recently, especially in front of Secunda Spar.
The Ridge Times reported on the issue with the illegal hawkers in the CBD last week in its article Hawkers are a nuisance.
Secunda Spar and Frontier Security believe the ongoing problem of customers being harassed by hawkers will now come to an end.
Secunda Spar has placed visual guards in and around Spar to protect their customers.
“It is of utmost importance to Spar that its customers are able to do their shopping without being harassed by beggars and hawkers,” said Mr Nick Mathios, manager of Secunda Spar.
The guards are wearing neon bibs in order for the public to be able to recognise them immediately.
“The problem of harassment of the public and customers has been going on for quite some time and it is time that business owners stand together to help fight crime in the CBD,” said Mr Mathios.
Mr Byron Harty, owner of Frontier Security, encouraged other business owners to also improve their parking areas and follow in the footsteps of Secunda Spar.
The area close to Secunda Spar has been hawker free since this initiative.
