Secunda squatters refuse to move
Police and Red Ants clear Secunda dumping site.
SECUNDA – Illegal squatters refused to move from the Secunda dumping site on Thursday, 12 February.
Members of the Secunda Police and the Red Ants urged them to move from the site at 5am and took them to eMbalenhle by truck, but some squatters were back at about at 10am.
According to a source some of the squatters returned in taxis.
They made fires in the open field between the rubbish dump and the road to Sasol’s Charlie 5 gate and the police had to chase them away again.
The Secunda Veiligheids Groep warned motorists that the squatters were throwing stones at cars and that there might be a riot.
