eMBALENHLE – Residents of gate 6, Extension 22 told the Ridge Times they are getting tired of reporting the same sewage problem over and over to the municipality.
“At times the municipality drains the sewage¸ but they only come once in a while,” said some of the residents.
They said the municipality should do something¸ because kids often play in this sewage and get sick.
They further said they recently noticed that their kids are suffering from diseases such as diarrhoea, stomach cramps and fever.
They also complained of the bad smell and motorists who drive through the sewage, said their cars also stink.
Some shop owners said their suppliers do not want to enter their section because of the sewage and as such they have to hire transport to go and get their stock.
“The bakery often waits at the tar road from where I have to collect the bread,” said a shop owner.
Govan Mbeki municipal spokesman, Mr Henry Masango, said the municipality is aware of the sewage problem.
He promised that they are working on getting a permanent solution.
