KINROSS – Thousands of litres of clean water are wasted because of an overflowing water tank near the Sasolia Primary School.
Pastor Elias Norman, a resident, said the problem is 10 years old and the municipality is trying to fix it, but they fail.
The water is saturating the ground and residents fear that the foundation of the water tank and pipes might disintegrate, because of the water pressure.
They are also scared that it will damage the foundation of their houses.
“I asked the municipality to cut the overgrown vegetation caused by the water.
“They sent two grass tractors and six grass cutters, but they only cut a small area and said they could not go further because of the water,” said Mr Norman.
The people who were also sent to fix the water problem, could not fix do so because of the overgrown vegetation.
“We do not know what should be done, because the water is blaming the vegetation and the vegetation is blaming the water,” said Mr Norman.
Residents do not understand how the municipality works, because they should first drain the water and then cut the grass.
“The municipality should make a trench which will relay the water to the farm behind the school,” said one resident.
