Occupants make lucky escape

Two occupants from the vehicle were admitted to Standerton Hospital with minor injuries.

A car and truck were involved in an accident on the road to Secunda last night.

The two vehicle occupants were admitted to Standerton Hospital with minor injuries.

The truck went through a farmer’s fence coming to a halt metres before a chicken coop.

Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, spokesman of the Standerton Police, said the driver of the car stated that the truck moved into her lane and she crashed into its tyre.

“The truck driver however stated that he was disturbed by a car that overtook him, lost control of the truck and veered into the opposite lane where the car crashed into its tyre,” Lt Nhlabathi concluded.

The truck travelling towards Standerton then swayed out of control after crashing through a farmer’s fence and overturned.

According to Mr Basjan Lombard, acting station commander at the Standerton Ambulance Services, one of the patients was treated for minor injuries and discharged the same night.

The Standerton Advertiser will conduct an interview with the farmer who claimed that this is the umpteenth time he had to repair his fence due to accidents at this location, as well as confront the Lekwa Municipality about no lines on the road towards Secunda.
