Support Operation Relief and make a difference
The Standerton Ibis has decided to launch a blanket project, as part of "Operation Relief", to help our grandfathers, grandmothers and long-forgotten uncles and aunts.
When watching the news on television in the evening, it is no surprise that Standerton ranks among the coldest places countrywide, giving Sutherland a go sometimes.
The vulnerable in society is the elderly where a blanket can make the difference between a comfortable night’s rest as compared to chilly hours spent, with only memories to keep the cold at bay.
In our youth-obsessed culture, we think of old age in terms of decay, illness and loss.
Many of the elderly are put into nursing homes and old age homes where the personal touch is not always possible.

Society values appearance so highly that we seem to be embarrassed by time showing its marks on faces and bodies.
These pensioners can tell many stories and be a fountain of wisdom, so let us join hands and make sure they are warm this winter. We are currently running a project, in conjunction with the Willows Lions Branch, for animals.
Old blankets can be handed in at our offices as well that will be donated to the SPCA.
Hand in your blanket at 13B Burger Street where it will be distributed to the Standerton Old Age Home and Vukuzimele Old Age Home.
