Police arrest alleged patient killer

He also apparently attacked male nurse and another patient.

EVANDER – The 28-year-old murder suspect who allegedly stabbed and killed a patient at the Evander Hospital has been arrested.

He is still at the Hospital under police guard.

Sgt Sibusiso, police spokesman, said the suspect will soon appear in the Evander Magistrate’s Court.

He said police are investigating.

Mr Dumisani Malamule, Mpumalanga Department of Health spokesman, said the suspect did not only kill the victim, but also assaulted a male nurse and another patient.

He said the male nurse and the patient managed to escape unharmed.

“We review this matter as very serious, hence the matter has been reported to the police.

“We would like to convey our condolences to the bereaved family.”

Mr Gillion Mashego, MEC of the Health Department, is expected to visit the bereaved family today.
