Shop goes up in flames
“I spent R5 000 and an additional R230 on paint and paint brushes,” she said.
Tholi’s Centre Cafe in Sakhile went up in flames on 11 August.
The Department of Fire and Rescue claimed that cooking oil on a deep frying stove, that was left on, started the fire.
Ms Lindiwe Nhlapo, owner, said she was not at the shop when the incident occurred.
“I ensured that the stove was off before leaving the shop,” Ms Nhlapo also said.
According to her, her child when coming back from school, could have used the stove to prepare food after she left, forgetting to turn it off.
The shop was not completely destroyed in the fire, but Ms Nhlapo had to buy another stove.
“I spent R5 000 and an additional R230 on paint and paint brushes,” she said.
