An ATM card is one of the quickest ways a thief can commit identity theft, wiping out your bank account.
A national security company issued the following tips on how to avoid ATM scams.
• Skimmer: It involves a device installed into an ATM that can read account information, including the account number, pin and balance.
• Shoulder Surfing: A low-tech scam involving observation techniques or crafty tactics.Some thieves install a fake keypad on top of a real one to record account information and pin numbers. A camera can also be installed to record information such as an account number.
