Police vehicle smashed at tavern
Police call on tavern owners to comply with the rules and regulations of the Mpumalanga Liquor Act.
eMBALENHLE – A police vehicle was allegedly smashed by tavern customers on Saturday, 29 September.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said this came after the police had entered the tavern to question the owner about why the tavern was operating after the legal hours of operation.
He said the police warned the owner, because he had violated the Mpumalanga Liquor Act.
He said while the police were talking with the owner, customers allegedly smashed the car outside.
“We condemn such actions and will make sure that the perpetrators are arrested soon.
“People must realise that the police are not their enemy.
“The very same people who smashed the car might need these resources soon.”
He urged tavern owners to comply with and abide to the rules and regulation of the Mpumalanga Liquor Act.
