Dummy foot causes quite a stir

Police commend concerned motorists.

CHARL CILLIERS – Motorists freaked out over what looked like a person’s foot sticking out of the trunk of a car.

Mr Deon Grobler was driving from Standerton to Charl Cilliers when a motorist saw it and alerted other motorists.

“It looked as though they were also concerned and I decided to call the police,” she said.

The police responded very quickly and when Mr Grobler was stopped in eMbalenhle, the police realized it was a dummy foot.

Mr Grobler said he also has a dummy arm.

“I am a police reservist in Middelburg and will not do it again.

“I did it once and everyone, including traffic officials, were taking pictures of it, so I thought it was fun.

“Nobody said I should not do it, including the cops who took the pictures,” said Mr Grobler.

* eMbalenhle Police spokesman, Capt Magonseni Nkosi, said the police commend the people who were concerned and reported it to the police.

“We encourage our community members to always report anything that looks suspicious.

“I also want to applaud the Charl Cilliers and eMbalenhle police for reacting swiftly,” said Capt Nkosi.

He further said Mr Grobler was very calm and said he did not think it would scare other motorists.
