eMBALENHLE – The number of bodies that have been dumped in the area, is increasing, but no arrests have been made yet.
About three bodies were found in different areas in the last two weeks.
Residents said this is a serious threat and concern to them.
The body of a woman was found in a sewer trench on Saturday, 29 August at the Mandela Section and no one has been arrested yet.
The body of a man was found with a gunshot wound in Extension 18 in the field behind the community hall last week and also no one has been arrested yet.
Residents who were crossing a river were shocked to see the body of a man floating in Welambambo River on Friday, 11 September.
The police were called to the scene, but because it was too dark, police divers did not enter the river.
They retrieved the body the next day.
The 32-year-old man was found with his hands tied to a pole.
His driver’s license and R70 were found in his pocket.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, police spokesman, said the police are investigating a case of murder.
He said no has been arrested yet.
“The increase in murders in the area is a serious concern.
“We are working tirelessly to find and arrest the perpetrators of these crimes.
“We ask the residents to help us find the criminals.
“We also urge people to avoid travelling alone at night.”
Mr Mandla Zondo, a resident, said he feels unsafe and unprotected.
“The scariest thing is that the suspects are at large.
“We do not know who committed the crimes.
“Our faith is now in the police force to find and arrest the murderers.”
