Council extends working hours
Issuing of licenses on Saturdays is from 8am to 1pm, beginning on Saturday, 17 October.
SECUNDA – Govan Mbeki Municipality said in a statement it is going to extend office hours to accommodate motorists wanting to collect their renewed driver’s licenses after many complaints from the public.
Mr Bheki Kubheka, spokesman, said: “From Monday, 12 October the license department will continue to issue licenses during office hours from 7.30am to 4pm.
“Collection of receipts for issuing and the issuing of licenses is between 4pm and 6pm from Monday to Thursday.
“Issuing of licenses on Saturdays is from 8am to 1pm, beginning on Saturday, 17 October.
“Customers who do not mind waiting long hours to collect their licenses, can still visit the license department during office hours from 7.30am to 4pm where they will submit their receipts and wait for the license department staff to search for their licenses during the day or they can choose to submit their receipts to the official designated person to receive the receipts, who will note the customer’s particulars, including contact details at the Secunda Licensing Offices either between 7.30am and 4pm or 4pm until 6pm.
“However the license will not be issued on the same day unless the client is willing to wait.
“Customers who submitted their receipts on Mondays will collect their licenses on Wednesdays, those who submitted on Tuesday will collect them on Thursdays and those who submitted on Thursdays, including those who could not collect on Wednesday and Thursday will collect on Saturdays.
“Customers are requested to bear in mind that the special arrangement is made for the purpose of dealing with the backlog and the community is requested to be patient in the process, however the target waiting period for noting of receipt will not exceed 20 minutes except those who will chose to wait and collect on the same day.”
